Modesto Type Poster

The Modesto typeface was designed by Jim Parkinson, and was made to emulate 19th and 20th century sign painter’s lettering style. The current font is a modification on the one he made for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus. To make this type specimen poster, I took inspiration from circus tickets and posters from the late 19th and 20th centuries. It showcases the 15 different variations in the typeface along with six more that can be layered together to make intricate type designs.
